My site was hacked, it seems. A couple of text widgets had been added, containing lots of JavaScript and other nasties.
So, if you saw lots of adverts and crap like that over the last few days, that’s why.
Also, apologies to the guy (Neill, I think?) who commented on one of my posts, mentioning the adverts. I thought it was spam, so I deleted it. Sorry!
First off, I love this program. With that said I have a question. I maintain 2 club websites that use google calendar. I have asked a member to help with updating the calendar and have given her the password to get into the calendar but not the website. Whenever she updates the calendar, it never updates on the website. I have to go in to WP and hit the “refresh” button for her work to show up, yet when I update the calendar it automatically updates the website. We are curious as to why this is happening and what can be done to fix it. PS we are using two different themes for the websites.
Cheers!
Hi Beverly,
The plugin caches the feed data for a length of time specified by the “Cache duration” option. Once the cache has expired, the plugin automatically retrieves the required data from Google’s servers again. The cache can also be cleared manually at any time via the “Refresh” link, as you mention. The plugin does this so that it doesn’t need to retrieve the data on every page load, which would slow down page load times considerably.
What this means is that changes made in Google Calendar won’t appear on your site (via the plugin) until the cache expires, which may be any time between “now” and “now plus the cache duration” depending on when the data was last cached.
If you want changes to appear more quickly, reduce the cache duration in the settings. However, avoid setting it too low due to the potential performance issues mentioned above.
